Neolithic Period (7000-2500 BC)
The configuration of the land was perfect for pre-historic man. The Loir River with its chalky hillside, terraces, natural caves and neighboring forest full of wild game, provided a perfect environment for primitive populations. Archeological digs have unearthed axes, arrowheads, tools and other artifacts around Lavardin. The abundance of flint was a rich source materials for the tools of paleolithic and neolithic man. This combination of resources made the area an ideal place to live and the numerous tools found here is evidence that early man occupied these lands for a long ininterrupted period. >
